To Stand in the Water

Full-length play written, directed, and produced by Alice Wilkinson

I wanted to unpack and address antiquated ideas surrounding ownership when a fisherman, birder, painter, and rancher, confront a new property owner. Who suffers as a result of these ambiguous water laws and how can we learn to live with the land, and in turn, each other? Water is life, not just out West, but around the world. What might seem like a localized issue is actually a global one. I hope folks walk away with a better understanding of this urgent, complicated topic, because time is running out.

To Stand in the Water is inspired by the current Hill vs. Warsewa court case, in which Roger Hill, an 81-year-old fly fisherman living in Colorado, is now suing the state over his right "to stand in the water.”

Nightlatch

20-minute solo show written and directed by Alice Wilkinson

My MFA in Acting thesis project detailing the epistolary relationship with the father-figures in my life and the effects of geographical isolation and loss during the pandemic.

The piece was inspired by my time out West working on ranches and the solace wild places provide. It was created using Tectonic Theater Project’s moment work in collaboration with Leigh Fondakowski.

The following photos were all taken by me in Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana.
